I survived my first Speed Scrap.. *whew*

Tonight I participated in my first speed scrap over at Digital Candy. What a blast! I’m going to try and make the others at Digital Candy as well as Scrap Matters as it was so much fun and I ended up creating a gorgeous layout that I don’t think I would’ve come up with on my ‘own’

anywho here’s what I ended up with

You’re 1 today! – Little Man on his birthday diving into his cake.
Created using Angie Kovacs – Just a boy kit.
Ribbon & Elements from Britt-ish Designs – Leave the world behind
Alpha from Christina Renee Designs – Plain Ole Epoxy Alpha.
Font – Pea Cassie

Journaling reads : “Happy Birthday! What a year it’s been!”

well I’m off to head to bed. I’m hoping this yuck that hasn’t made up it’s mind if I’m going to be sick or not has gone away.

How cute is this??

On my normal daily “blog trek” I found the cutest craft project and I can’t wait to try it. I’m going to be sending Rick off to buy me some dowel this weekend so we can try it

Elf Skittles!! How stinkin’ cute! I found them over at The Long Thread’s blog.  I have to say I absolutely LOVE that blog, it’s one of my favorites.  I love almost every project they list and I really can’t wait to try this one.

Missy LOVES bowling, so I’m thinking this cute little set will be a big hit!

Check out the blog cuz it’s great for craft ideas.. maybe even some for Christmas gifts?

That I just got to work with! From Armina Designs “not for boys” is a cute girly version of a car themed kit. I used it to make a cute layout for Little Man also earlier today, so it works for both boys and girls.

Here’s what I’ve done with the kit.. and I’m sure I’ll be making many more layouts like this with it we’re race/car fans!

Oh wow! I won!

I participated in a template challenge that Chrissy W was holding, and I went to read her blog just now and found out that I had been chosen along with 2 other very talented ladies that I was one of the winners.

Here’s the layout I submitted

Little Man, Missy & I at the pumpkin patch last weekend.
Created using Chrissy W’s template #8 for her blog challenge & Wendy Page’s – My Funky Fall-o-ween, stitch is from Julie Marie Designs – Little Boy Blue Kit

I am now the happy winner of a $5 gift certificate to Chrissy’s Store! Thanks Chrissy!

Now I’m off to check out her next template for the challenge..

sick kids & new layouts..

Yup.. the kids are sick -again. Missy has the normal, cough and runny nose and Little Man is teething like no tomorrow and has a cold, no cough for him yet – fingers crossed. We are having a ‘cold spell’ so I don’t know if that has anything to do with them not feeling great as it was 80 something the other day and now we’re barely getting to 50 at night.  So I have both kiddo’s at home with me today and we’re taking it easy.

Rick and I have started refinishing Little Man’s dresser. Well it’s Rick’s dresser and side table from when he was a kid – he said he thinks he has had it for at least 20 years if not longer. Rick and Missy sat out on the back porch and sanded down the  side table and the drawer fronts for that yesterday afternoon. Then Missy & I primed it and I have put 2 coats of “the #2 miller lite car” blue on it (we picked the colour from Rusty Wallace’s old car, which is now driven byKurt Busch). I forgot to take before pictures as well as pictures of Missy & Rick sanding, but will of course post some “after” pictures once it’s finished. We still have the dresser to do, so when we start that I’ll make sure to get pictures of it going thru the whole process. We also painted the front door. It’s now a shade of “tomato red. We got rained out on Saturday so it still needs a few more coats to make it the “true” red it should be. With it being cold having the front door off at the moment isn’t going to work, so we’ll wait until it warms up just a little.

Last week (wow it’s really been that long since I wrote here) we took Missy to the Cole Brother’s Circus as it was in town and we promised her a reward for her awesome report card. Little Man hated the first 20-30 minutes but was really into the elephants.. they are so cute who wouldn’t like them? On the way out we let Missy have an elephant ride and I think that was the best part of her night! It was a great night out and something different besides going to the theme parks etc.

Here’s a couple of layouts that I have had “hiding” on my hard drive that I wanted to share.

All Boy -Little Man at one week old.
Created using Little Boy Blue by Julie Marie Designs.

Elephant Ride – We took DD to the circus last night and she got to ride on one of the elephants!
I created this Layout using Armina Designs Natural Batik Papers Vol II the rubber band is from Digital Candy’s October Mega Kit – Wicked, Background Paper and buttons by Julie Marie Scraps Country Pumpkin Kit, white mats by Kirsty Scraps.

Where is Adam?? – My Little Man playing his favorite game.. Peek-a-boo.

Created using Not for Boys by Armina Designs and the alpha is Puffy White Alpha by Julie Marie Scraps

Well I’m going to go and try to get a few more things done before Little Man gets up from his Nap

Is it really Novemeber already??

Holy moly, where is time going? It seems like it’s flying right out the window. I can’t believe we are now gearing up for the holidays – Thanksgiving and then shortly there after Christmas.

It honestly doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving is just over 3 weeks away. My Mum brought up the subject yesterday while I was on the phone with her about plans etc. and I couldnt’ believe it. Before I know it it’ll be January and the whole yearly hustle and bustle starts all over again.

Anywho.. Today is the big Election day. Rick votes via absentee ballot, so I don’t have to wait for him to come home tonight at some crazy hour due to the fact that he’s waited in line to vote. The election this year is definitely a history maker. On one side there is the first ever African-American President and then there is the first ever female Vice President and that’s not even the “important” part of the election. Hopefully the next President can turn the country around and bring the US out of the economic slump that we are currently in and maybe make health care affordable for every one. I really don’t have much of a voice when it comes to this as not being an American Citizen I don’t have the right to vote. I can vote in England, but there’s not really much point in that as I don’t follow those issues and they don’t effect me directly. I could if I became an American Citizen vote, but I have to go through a lengthy process to do so, but will probably do it in the future. I have paid more attention this year to the election, only because really Rick has followed the campains since day one and I’m still confused on the whole proces.

Missy got to cast her vote this morning at school and I’m sure will be quite pleased with her “I voted” sticker that she will be coming home with.

This election is important, it will affect the next 4 years of our lives as well as our children’s lives, so get out there, do your part and vote. You have that right, take advantage of it.
