I squeezed in some scrap time..

Yesterday I spent the day catching up on some of my CT requirements for my newest CT. I joined Ellie Lash’s CT last month and I have to say I absolutely LOVE her designs! Here’s some of the layouts I created with her kits.

I survived my first Speed Scrap.. *whew*

Tonight I participated in my first speed scrap over at Digital Candy. What a blast! I’m going to try and make the others at Digital Candy as well as Scrap Matters as it was so much fun and I ended up creating a gorgeous layout that I don’t think I would’ve come up with on my ‘own’

anywho here’s what I ended up with

You’re 1 today! – Little Man on his birthday diving into his cake.
Created using Angie Kovacs – Just a boy kit.
Ribbon & Elements from Britt-ish Designs – Leave the world behind
Alpha from Christina Renee Designs – Plain Ole Epoxy Alpha.
Font – Pea Cassie

Journaling reads : “Happy Birthday! What a year it’s been!”

well I’m off to head to bed. I’m hoping this yuck that hasn’t made up it’s mind if I’m going to be sick or not has gone away.

That I just got to work with! From Armina Designs “not for boys” is a cute girly version of a car themed kit. I used it to make a cute layout for Little Man also earlier today, so it works for both boys and girls.

Image is clickable

Here’s what I’ve done with the kit.. and I’m sure I’ll be making many more layouts like this with it we’re race/car fans!

sick kids & new layouts..

Yup.. the kids are sick -again. Missy has the normal, cough and runny nose and Little Man is teething like no tomorrow and has a cold, no cough for him yet – fingers crossed. We are having a ‘cold spell’ so I don’t know if that has anything to do with them not feeling great as it was 80 something the other day and now we’re barely getting to 50 at night.  So I have both kiddo’s at home with me today and we’re taking it easy.

Rick and I have started refinishing Little Man’s dresser. Well it’s Rick’s dresser and side table from when he was a kid – he said he thinks he has had it for at least 20 years if not longer. Rick and Missy sat out on the back porch and sanded down the  side table and the drawer fronts for that yesterday afternoon. Then Missy & I primed it and I have put 2 coats of “the #2 miller lite car” blue on it (we picked the colour from Rusty Wallace’s old car, which is now driven byKurt Busch). I forgot to take before pictures as well as pictures of Missy & Rick sanding, but will of course post some “after” pictures once it’s finished. We still have the dresser to do, so when we start that I’ll make sure to get pictures of it going thru the whole process. We also painted the front door. It’s now a shade of “tomato red. We got rained out on Saturday so it still needs a few more coats to make it the “true” red it should be. With it being cold having the front door off at the moment isn’t going to work, so we’ll wait until it warms up just a little.

Last week (wow it’s really been that long since I wrote here) we took Missy to the Cole Brother’s Circus as it was in town and we promised her a reward for her awesome report card. Little Man hated the first 20-30 minutes but was really into the elephants.. they are so cute who wouldn’t like them? On the way out we let Missy have an elephant ride and I think that was the best part of her night! It was a great night out and something different besides going to the theme parks etc.

Here’s a couple of layouts that I have had “hiding” on my hard drive that I wanted to share.

All Boy -Little Man at one week old.
Created using Little Boy Blue by Julie Marie Designs.

Elephant Ride – We took DD to the circus last night and she got to ride on one of the elephants!
I created this Layout using Armina Designs Natural Batik Papers Vol II the rubber band is from Digital Candy’s October Mega Kit – Wicked, Background Paper and buttons by Julie Marie Scraps Country Pumpkin Kit, white mats by Kirsty Scraps.

Where is Adam?? – My Little Man playing his favorite game.. Peek-a-boo.

Created using Not for Boys by Armina Designs and the alpha is Puffy White Alpha by Julie Marie Scraps

Well I’m going to go and try to get a few more things done before Little Man gets up from his Nap

Recent Layouts..

I haven’t had a chance to sit still and post my recent layouts and I apologize to the designers for not posting these sooner.

We have just been super busy with Missy’s dance class, planning Little man’s birthday, I’ve been trying to finish up some cross stitching projects and our normal every day hustle and bustle.

Here’s the layouts I have done recently

2 layouts & 2 sick Monkeys

Yup, both monkeys are sick. We paid our bi-monthly (seriously it seems that way) visit to the pediatrician this morning as both kids had cold like symptoms and then started with a wonderful barky cough. With Missy’s medical history and the fact that she gets pneumonia at the drop of a hat I thought it was best to go and have a visit. We had to take Rick to work anyway as our other truck still won’t run properly and I hate being with out my truck, so we went and found out that both kids have ear infections – Little man has a double and Missy has one in her right ear. On top of that they both have chest infections and Missy has a croupy sounding cough so we’re treating that with a steroid – lovely! So I have both monkeys at home – Missy stayed home yesterday also so I’ve had my hands more full than normal.

The weird thing is Little Man has started sleeping through the night – which isn’t normal for him when he’s not sick, so maybe we can convince him that this is the way normal people sleep and continue on this track we’re on right now.  With him sleeping in the evenings I’ve been able to get a few layouts completed and I have also started working on our family calendar for Christmas.

Here’s my 2 most recent layouts that I created for Julie Marie Scraps

Daisy – Missy & Daisy from her first trip to Disney, Christmas 2007.

I created this layout using papers & elements from Princess hearts by Julie Marie Scraps,
Dreams do come true & magical Disney moment by Britt-ish Design.
Love, Daisy I traced from Missy’s autograph book

Missy with our Scarecrow that we made for fall last year.  This layout was created using Autumn Spice by Julie Marie Scraps and the title was created using Dunia’s Stamped Alpha

If you want to check out Julie’s other designs her store is HERE

I have just downloaded another kit from Calalily over at Digital Candy so look for those layouts in the next day or so. Depending on Little Man & his sleep I might work on that this afternoon or this evening, It’s super cute too!

well, I think I should go and get a few things done before nap time.

Here’s my layouts

My latest scrap layouts….

With everything that has been going on I haven’t had a chance to sit still and really scrap, but this weekend I managed to squeak some time in, thanks to a wonderful hubby for covering for me for an hour! And I managed to create 2 layouts for my new assignment this month with Digital Candy . This month I am creating layouts for HolliHobbi. The first kit I worked with is “Rain” which inspired me to take some super cute pictures of Missy out in the rain with her umbrella. Thanks to Florida’s rainy season it was easy to pick the perfect time to do a photo shoot.

Here’s my layouts

“why does it always rain in Florida?” was created using the Rain kit by HolliHobbi. The template I used is by Moriginals.

“Rain Rain Go Away” – created using the Rain kit by HolliHobbi. The word art on the page is included in the kit, I just used a colour overlay to make it blend more into the paper.

If you’re interested in the Rain kit you can find it at Digital Candy

Apart from scrapping our weekend was pretty boring as Little man started getting sick Friday night. I took him to the doctor on Saturday and he has Croup & an ear infection, poor baby. The doctor said that it’s a very mild infection, but he must be sensitive to pain as most kids don’t fuss with their ears until it’s much worse. I’m just glad I caught it early enough! He’s been very cuddly which I’m lapping up as I don’t get that from either one of my kiddo’s very often. He’s even been sleeping with me again – I know we’ve just broken him of that not to long ago, but I hate him being in pain and sick. Missy gets to sleep with us every now and then, so I guess it’s only fair, that and I like a good cuddle!

Today Missy started swimming lessons and I have to say I’m quite shocked that she went off just fine and had no problems with going off with the lifeguard. The whole time leading up to class she has been a little worried about going. We arrived early so her “teacher” took her off in the pool alone and I think that helped boost her confidence a little more and she was quite happy after class and can’t wait to go back tomorrow. Adam has his first “class” tomorrow, we were sitting out on the side watching the baby class today and it looked super cute singing songs and just really playing about in the pool.

Tomorrow I’m going to be busy as we have swim class for both kiddo’s in the morning and then after that we’re bringing Missy’s friend Bea back with us for a lunch play date. I’m going to have Bea until 3:30-4ish, so it’s going to be a fun filled day while the girls play. I’m really looking forward to having her and spending a “girly” day with them.

I’m not sure how much I’ll be on to blog in the next couple of days as Missy’s 5th birthday is on Saturday and we’re having a party at the bowling alley for her. With us moving in the next week or so we figured that was much easier than inviting the family to our house for a boring ol’ get together. Wednesday I start making her cake. She chose a Hannah Montana cake that I’m going to hopefully copy from a picture we found online of a cake shops creation, I just hope I do it justice! I will of course post all of the pictures of the cake and of her party here. I just can’t believe how time has flown since she was a little monkey herself and now she’s all grown up. Gift buying this year has been super tough not just for me, but family also. I can’t believe how stumped I’ve been with what to buy her when normally I have it picked out months in advance. Any suggestions for a 5 year old girl are welcome as I only have a few ideas. We asked her and she said “a box of cereal” she’s just soo funny!

Well, I have things to be doing!
